Our world

Barclays Bank CEO is to get a £22 million bonus.

Footballer Ronaldo will be earning £55 a minute, 24 hours a day.

Children are dying for want of clean water.

How can anyone justify that sort of pay. It's simply obscene

Well said. So if there's an economic slump, where are these colossal sums of money coming from?? Ronaldo donates some of his earnings to charity but how much is anyone's guess.

Those undeserving people should be pressured to give a lot of the money to charity.

Wish a universal law could be passed to make it so that the highest-earner CANNOT make, say, 20 times more (and maybe I'm still being overly-generous here) than the lowest-earner in their organisation/country.

I love it! I haven't heard 'twp' since my Grandmother died over 50 years ago.

Good point!

btw...what does "twp" mean? Pardon my ignorance, but maybe it's a British saying?

Bet the CEO and Ronaldo are both Christians.

It's obscene, isn't it? And so utterly messed up.

Leslie, it's in Liz's glossary of Welshness - silly or stupid. And it certainly isn't used in England (or Northern Ireland for that matter).

twp (adj.) is like twerp (n.) in English, afaik.

I have posted about this kind of thing... like the 75,000 pound watch. Its idiotic and dangerous.

Everyone has said it.
Always did hate Barclays.
And football.

Clean water is only one item that need addressing.

Ludicrous, isn't it, Liz. Where do priorities come into it?

sadly the point is "we" the public are responsbile.

We demand greater profits and growth from our businesses because we want investments to grow... Share holders can vote against executive pay schemes normally.

and secondly - we'll pay for the shirts, the tv pay per view etc that fuels that kind of excessive payments.

Only when we stop doing those things will this stop... oh yes but that still won't help the kids who need water... there's no profit in that

We can change things. We can try.
