Saturday Photohunt - Thankful

As it's the day of St. David, the patron saint of Wales, on Sunday, 1st March, it seems appropriate that I should be thankful for being born Welsh.

Every day when I wake up I thank the lord I'm Welsh
From International Velvet by Catatonia

To be born Welsh is to be born privileged.
Not with a silver spoon in your mouth,
But music in your heart and poetry in your soul.
Popular Welsh quotation, adapted from an original poem by Brian Harris

In Cardiff, Wales' capital city, on international day with Cardiff castle and statue of Nye Bevan, Labour MP for Ebbw Vale and chief architect of the national health service, and an abundance of Welsh flags in the background.

The timing of this theme seems to be perfect...St. David's day for you, Lent for others, signs of spring...Love your take on it!

Great post and photograph for the theme. I love the quote. Nothing is better in my opinion than to be born with music in your heart and poetry in your soul! Happy weekend, Carver

That's nice for you ! We have welsh friends they live near Cardiff we met them 6 years ago in Egypt !
Being married with an Italian, myself German and living in Belgium since 50 years I don't know of what I should be proud. Maybe being a European ??

I love the joyful expression on her face. And I especially like the sentiment behind your post. This is a very appropriate take on this week's PhotoHunt theme.

My post has a family focus and comes from a very joyful occasion.

OH, the lump hiraeth makes in your throat.

I love that Catatonia song, a great shame that they split up. Happy St David's Day. Wales gets so little coverage in the media you'd think it had disappeared into outer space. We only seem to hear about it when there's a personality clash in the Assembly or some English-owned homes have been burnt down. I once lived in Borth-y-Gest for three months, loved every minute of it.
