And shall we have crumpets for tea?

Writing about crumpets gave me the urge, and you know what it's like when you've got an urge: you have to satisfy it.

First, the nice frothy batter. Then cooking on granny's griddle.
The finished product.
Not as holey as it should be but tasting nice, warm, with lashings of butter.

Now I'm jealous - and impressed. You make your own crumpets! I still have my mother's bakestone - and my grandmother's too - so I have to try this.

You are a fabulous cook, aren't you? Gorgeous food. And I used to love making marmalade cake. Never thought to sub the marmamlade for marmite though...

I never knew you could make crumpets from scratch. My mother used to buy them, toast them, and serve them with butter and jam or honey. Scrumpdillyishus! :D

Wow...that looks really good Liz. I've never had a crumpet...it looks like something I'd love. You always make such yummy things.

Crumpets look like things we call "English Muffins" over here across the pond. Forgive me but I just love to read your blog - I can actually "hear" your accent, and I giggle every time I run up against one of your slang terms. Thank you for sharing your true voice.
