What to buy for the man who has everything

We've been in Egham this weekend with Elder Son, Daughter-in-Law and GrandSon1 and we've had a lovely time. It was a beautiful day today and we went for a walk in Windsor Great Park, though it was cold in the wind as we passed Obelisk Lake.
What fascinated me though was the hospital in Windsor that had a large poster outside advertising 'MRI scans from £450.'
I know it's a wealthy part of the world but is that seriously what you buy for the man who has everything?

That's more expensive than it is here - I just heard an ad on the radio the other day for $500.00 Cdn.

Sounds attractive ;-) NOT :-(

Just FYI, In France, the cost of an MRI exam is approximately 150 Euros. This covers three basic scans including one with an intravenous contrast agent, as well as a consultation with the technician and a written report to the patient's physician.

In Japan, the cost of a MRI examination (excluding the cost of contrast material and films) ranges from US$155-180 with an additional radiologist professional fee of US$17.

In India, the cost of an MRI examination including the fee for the radiologist's opinion comes to around Rs 3000-4000 (US$50-60) excluding the cost of contrast material.

But do people just go out and get one, leslie?

A good point, sonata. I hadn't thought of that.

You do know some strange things, stu.

Most precautionary scans are a waste of time. They either give you a clean bill of health or they suggest some possible problem that often leads to unnecessary surgery or medical treatment. Best to wait until you have some noticeable symptoms.
