'Don't go near it, mum!'
'It's all right, George; it's only fungi.'
'Yeah, like it was 'only a meteor storm' in London. We've all read Day of the Triffids.'
It is very hard for George being a dog of a sensitive nature and with a vivid imagination.
P.S. Okay, I've tried saving the photo and uploading again and it looks fine before publishing but then half of it disappears. It's a mystery.

I only get half the photo. How bizarre. It was all there in the thumbnail on my reading list and is all there when I click it for the larger view.
I've never see quite so many funghi on one tree. I used to thin those shelf or bract funghi were really strange, but we see a lot of them in the forest.
You have to admit that funghi ARE awfully ugly! Maybe George has good taste after all. lol
He has good taste in SF - has he read The Kraken Wakes?
I think I get all of the photo! Must be a day of the Triffids moment...
there isn't mushroom up that tree but I know it's okay for a funguy...
I thank you....
As my Mum used to say "You should be on a stage.... about to fall through it" :-)
I think poor George was just overcome by numbers - it's a wise dog who knows when the odds are stacked against him!
They are quite common, katney.
I think they're beautiful, leslie!!
Oh yes, aileni, but he prefers The Chrysallids.
It's a very odd phenomenon, cherrypie.
Your mum was right, furtheron. (How do you know they're toadstools? Because there's not mushroom inside.)
How do you explain the single plastic bag that frightened him then, dragonstar?!
Poor George!
