Auntie Maud

The doctor told Auntie Maud she has thrush in her mouth and throat. Auntie Maud wants to believe him but is very scared that she has cancer of the throat. She is - naturally - terrified of choking.

She is a very frightened, sad and fragile old lady.

I am glad my mum died suddenly and quickly. I hope I do too. I don't want to be old and scared and dying slowly.

After watching my parents pass away, I'm not afraid at all. There seems to be a peace that comes over one when the time comes and they accept it. Neither of them suffered at the end, but sometimes there is a bit of it in the months preceding. I think my faith gives me peace that I will see all those who have gone ahead of me and I won't be alone at all.

No kidding. The elderly are so vulnerable. The thrush should be cleared up with nystatin suspension which I'm sure he has ordered for her.
