HP fever

Alun has a friend who is going away for the weekend with his family. They're taking the new Harry Potter with them and the father is going to read it to them all over the weekend.

Not long now. But I am still re-reading book 6 and have to wait for Younger Son to read book 7 first. Although he has said that he can't wait for it to be delivered on Saturday morning and will go to the shop at midnight and buy a copy. He intends to spend the weekend reading it.

Will Harry die, that's the question? Who else will? Will Snape finally be revealed for the goodie he really is? Will the Weasel twins become joke-shop millionaires?

I'm still stuck between wanting (and needing) to read it, and leaving it so that the possibility is always there...

who am I kidding though? I will have read it by the end of the weekend...

I want Harry to defeat Voldie and then have a double/triple/quadruple wedding with him and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, Bill and Fleur and Remus and Tonks...

I do hope I can pick up a copy on Saturday in Columbus (in my spare time!) or at the very least at the airport when I head back to NYC on Sunday.

I re-read "Phoenix" before hitting the movie last weekend. It had just been too long since I'd read it and I wanted a refresher. Guess I could flip through #6 as a preview.

Trying to figure out who the "dead" will be. Just too horrible if it's one of the 3 (HRH. Oooh, wait! Maybe I've stumble onto something!) Can't bear it if it's Hagrid, either.

OK. Enough. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm afraid I'm "over" all the hype...there's been so much!

I know I'll get to read the book eventually. I can wait...as long as no-one tells me who karks it!

I think last one I read was goblet of fire - after that my son read them to himself. No 7 is booked with Amazon.

They were on the radio asking you to text in about your plans to go out at midnight and buy it etc.

No - we just ordered it from Amazon months ago.... :-)

Eek eek eek, I am getting very excited now!!!! But also, like Claire, a bit distressed at the thought of coming to the end. I reeeaaaaally don't want Harry to die. What I would most like is for Dumbledore to return - I wept when he died! Actually, I would trade Harry's death for Dumby's happy return, but nobody is allowed to kill Hagrid or Ron, and then I am also liking the sound of this quadruple wedding...

PS. Amazon says:

"We’ve got owls standing by to deliver books to Muggles everywhere as quickly as possible! If you’ve ordered before midnight on 17th July for delivery to a UK address, be sure to listen for the beating of wings outside your door on Saturday the 21st..."

Ooh, I will! I will!!

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't get this Harry Potter thing !! My son and his lady are going to be queuing tonight !! I suspect it is my loss though so will start from the beginning...

I'm hoping to see the latest film this weekend. I must admit I haven't read any of the HP books, but I have enjoyed the films. I'm sure I will find out what happens at the end.

Am I really missing out? I have never read any of the Harry Potter books or watched the films. Can I ask you Liz? Feel free to ignore; you say the your industry is religion. Do you work for the church, or is your husband a vicar? Or neither!!

Non-readers are missing out! JK is a master story-teller. The films are not a patch on the books, whether you're 9 or 90.

I haven't read any HP. Well, I did get half way through the first one. I can see the attraction and that they're well written but they're just not my cup of tea. Will be interested to know if she kills him off, though.

I don't know Clare: can you imagine how traumatised Harry will be after all this? How can he lead a normal life?

Mary, I really hope it's not Hagrid. Or Ron. Or Hermione.

Lee and robyn, you're very sensible!

Furtheron, my copy will be delivered tomorrow, owls allowing. Younger Son is staying sober tonight just so he can go and buy it at midnight.

Shani, have you tried reading the books? They're really very good. Not really fantasy (because of course it's all real) but more schoolboys' adventures. Very readable.

Ellee, the books are much better than the films.

Marymary, I work as church administrator. Husband isn't even a Christian. (Yet!)

Welshcakes, you've obviously given it a good try and if they're not to your taste, that's the end of it.

Now I have to avoid all radios, television or paper clues as to what happens ...

Post about it in the future. Save me the money.

Tell me when you finish it! Then we can talk about it!

I will do, ruthie!

James, I can only assume you have never tried reading any of the books. I would have thought they were right up your street: boys' boarding school adventure tales of good against evil
