Dinner tonight

In the good old days they would have been wrapped in newspaper.

elf'n'safety probably doesn't allow it now. You might get ink on your chips.

I always remember the better chippys using a single sheet of greaseproof-ish paper first.

I love fish and chips...and most particularly wrapped in newspaper! Ahhh...good memories of old!

I was going to cook fish and chips for myself tonight...but my landlords invited me up to 'The Manor" for late afternoon drinks (wine) with them (they're off to New Zealand for ten days first thing in the morning)...so that put paid to bothering about cooking anything for myself!

Fish and chips will be on my menu tomorrow, instead. And I'm a vinegar freak...I must have vinegar with my fish and chips!

I always believed that newspaper was sterile; is that an old wives' tale? I remember being told that the best thing for a baby to be born onto was newspaper (assuming there was nothing else available!)

Can you beat the smell of them - bet Welshcakes misses them.
